Day one Post OP (back on the rollercoaster)
Day one after surgery has been a day marked by setbacks and doctors explaining that these setbacks are not out of the ordinary (never the less scary but not out of the ordinary). Mary Cate has regressed on her ventilator settings back to where she was when she first came into the NICU (she is at 60 bpm and 45% O2). She is also fighting off an infection of some sort and her blood pressure is little low but not low enough that she needs to be on dopamine yet. We are hoping and praying with the raising of the ventilator settings and the adding of some new blood that her three o’clock blood gas will improve and that her pressure will stay up. The doctors have also put her on antibiotics for the infection she may have (all of these things are very much normal after surgery but it has been a little harder because when we left last night she was at 30bpm and 32% O2 and doing good). Thus is life in the NICU. Please keep Mary Cate, Mom and Dad in your prayers. Thank you all so much.

Yikes, what a crazy ride- we are thinking and praying for the family!
Hi Brig and Chris,
We are constantly thinking about you all and we are praying that things go smoother for Mary Cate and for you each day. Stay strong and Brig, keep those miles of smiles shining. I'm positive that little girl of yours recognizes them already!!
Love to you all, Jeanine, Joe and Evan
Hang in there. You still have lots of love and prayers all over the world. Remember the testing of your faith produces perseverance. James 1. God has all this under control, and He is making something beautiful. We are out of town, but dad is keeping us posted as your father keeps him updated. Today is the first chance I got to get on the blog in a while. Be strong.
Michelle
