Hello all and welcome to the latest edition of Mary Cate’s life. She is doing well and playing with our emotions everyday. The first way that she is playing with our emotions is in regards to her weight. As I have said before she needs to get 1800 grams or 4lbs to move from the isolete to an open crib. Last week she was over 1700 grams and gaining about 40 grams a day (which got us feeling really good as Auntie Trista showed up) but the day I posted was the day that process came to a halt and actually started moving in the other direction. (There is nothing to get to concerned about, the doctor changed her feedings to all Mom’s milk and took her from feedings going in over two hours to feeds going in over 1 and MC doesn’t like change so she has had a hard time adjusting). So all that being said she is still at right around 1700 grams and we are still waiting for the 1800 barrier to be broken. It has been hard to see her weight going from a steady increase to back on the roller coaster of ups and downs. So if you all could pray that she would continue to eat and grow that would be great.

The other area that we could use prayer about is her eyes/O2 consumption. I know what you are saying, “how are those two related” but again I say the human body is an amazing thing. Let me explain. MC has been on O2 since she was born a little over two months ago (where does the time go) and the fact that she is on O2 is very normal and she is actually moving pretty quickly off the O2 (side note MC is really close to being off the O2 all together) but the only down side to being on the O2 is the fact that it can effect the eyes. MC gets an eye appointment every other week to check them and make sure every thing is going OK. She has been doing well up until last week where the doctor saw something that concerned her. So, the eye doctor is coming back in one week to check her again instead of the normal two weeks. If the concern is greater they could have to do laser surgery on MC eyes. Now this sounds like not a huge deal but here is the kicker, I leave Friday to go close on our house and then to go back to work for a couple weeks (so Brigit could be here by herself for the surgery, which would be OK but not the most desired outcome). So if you all could pray that MC wouldn’t have to have surgery at all but if she does that it could happen when I am at least in the state.

Thank you all for your prayers and concerns. We really couldn’t be doing this with out you.
